This $7 million facelift included extensive refurbishing of interior features such as gold leaf, wall coverings and eco paintings, as well as infill of 52 archways,
a new orchestra shell and a telescoping riser system. And, 2,850 seats were removed, refurbished and realigned. The contractors worked with the project
owner for more than two years to help plan the project according to budget constraints. Once begun, work was completed in just 113 days.
Purnell Center for the Performing Arts
Maintaining the acoustical integrity of a 127,000-square-foot, three-story structure that holds the two theaters of the Carnegie Mellon University School of
Drama helped make this project a success. Through pre-construction services sush as detailed estimating and value engineering, the project owner saved
$600,000. And, the facility was available for occupancy one month ahead of schedule.
David L. Lawrence Convention Center
A comprehensive project stabilization agreement ensured a skilled and dedicated workforce to meet the challenges of this $354 million project. Most unique
was the construction of a cable-stayed roof system, which suspends the stainless steel roof from 15 column lines, using engineering similar to a suspension
bridge. Cascading waterfalls, pedestrian walkways, meeting rooms, lecture halls and a parking garage - as well as 330,000 square feet of exhibition space,
of which 236,000 sqare feet is column-free - complete the project.

Excellence in project teamwork was critical in building this 970,000-square-foot, two deck, major league ballpark. In fact, from ground-breaking to opening day,
this $216 million project was completed in just 23 months - and within budget. This massive undertaking required 25 subcontractors and more than 1000 union
craftsmen to work together, often in the same areas at the same time. A challenge? Consider the numbers: placement of a 3.1-acre playing surface of natural
grass and crushed red brick, placement of 42,500 cubic yards of cast-in-place concrete, erection of 7,750 tons of structural steel, installation of 3,361 doors and
installation of nearly 8 miles of railings.
