The project required the demolition of numerous buildings and the construction of nine new buildings. For patients and their families, the new hospital includes spacious, private rooms (with overnight accommodations for parents), and one of the largest family resource centers of any pediatric hospital in the world. For the staff, this state-of-the-art facility utilizes breakthrough technology, enhanced research facilities, and an intelligent design to maximize efficiency in patient care. The largest structure, the Clinical Services Building, has nine floors of inpatient and outpatient care areas. It will be among the first fully digital hospitals in the country.
It includes a nursing workstation for every two patient rooms and a paperless information management system that allows physicians to place nearly all inpatient care orders electronically. Also included is a 20,000 square foot family resource and activity center, which includes an atrium, libraries, and healing gardens.
“The quality of work is first class for all the trades involved,” said John Sebastian, Executive Vice President for dck worldwide. “When people visit the facility, they will see the highest quality of work in this family-friendly atmosphere.”
