In May 2003, 32 members of the Builders Guild of Western Pennsylvania signed a Customer Bill of Rights to help ensure the delivery of quality construction services. The Bill of Rights is just one example of the Builders Guild’s commitment to being the premier value provider of construction services in this region.
Today, the Customer Bill of Rights remains a driving force and business philosophy in every construction project undertaken by union craftsmen and contractors, many of whom have been in business for more than 25 years—well over the national average.
Every project, regardless of size, receives the same commitment to quality and professionalism. Even before a job starts, building trade representatives and contractors work with developers and owners to deliver cost-effective solutions to whatever the construction challenge may be. That means working as partners to keep projects on track, and resolving differences quickly, effectively and efficiently.
Every union craftsman and craftswoman who reports to a work site brings skill, integrity and a professional work ethic to the job. It comes from completing between 4,000 and 10,000 hours of classroom and on-the-job training, depending on the particular trade. Altogether, building trade unions and their affiliated contractors invest more than $20 million annually in state-of-the-art apprentice and journeyman training.
In today’s highly competitive world, union building trades and contractors understand the importance of value, but value is more than an initial bid price. It’s bringing the highest professional and performance standards to a job site—from the beginning of a project to its completion.
The Customer Bill of Rights is a promise that was made by the members of the Builders Guild in 2003 and it remains just as strong today.
